The cathedral was founded c.1030 by Sitric, King of the Dublin Norsemen.
Christ Church is one of the oldest and most recognised Dublin landmarks. The
cathedral and the Treasures of Christ Church exhibition reflect 1,000 years of
history, architecture and worship. The choir, which tours internationally, was
founded in 1480 and with the choir of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral took part in the
first performance of Handel’s Messiah. Concerts, recitals and lectures are also
part of the cathedral programme but the music at the regular services is a major
attraction.
