Siamsa Tíre is an Arts Centre facility which offers a forum for
drama, music,
dance, literary and the visual arts, in addition to facilitating the development
of arts in the region.
It is also the home of the National Folk Theatre who present Irish Folk
Culture
in its many faceted forms, through the media of theatre and the traditional
arts. Using the disciplines of traditional Irish music, dance, storytelling
and
mime, Siamsa Tíre offers a cultural experience dramatising the
essence of the
Irish people. A Siamsa show presents on stage the myths, legends,
lore,
language, folkways and folk life of a bygone era. The National Folk Theatre
is Irelands only repertory company, with a cast of over 120 performers
from
April to October. The custom built theatre seats 355 people.
