ITIC report
Last week you would have received notification of the launch of a key report entitled: ITIC Tourism Opportunity – Driving Economic Renewal. It sets out how Tourism, one the country’s top indigenous industries, can play a significant role in Ireland’s economic recovery. The report/plan is supported by a national coalition of business interests including the IFA, Chambers Ireland, IBEC, the IHF and members of Irish Tourist Industry Confederation (ITIC). Heritage Island, as a key member of ITIC, contributed to the strategy and acted as the representative for you, the visitor attraction sector. The report was launched in advance of the forthcoming general election and is the Tourism Industry’s manifesto that will be presented to all political parties and candidates nationally. It sets out a ten point plan for urgent action and the potential that Tourism has to sustain the existing 180,000 jobs and the potential to create an additional 20,000 jobs over the next five years.
