Situated in Ireland’s most picturesque village, the Adare Heritage Centre allows you to experience this area’s unique history, spanning the years from 1233 to the present day.
The story is told through realistic model enactments and audio visuals in French, Italian, German, Irish and English. A Guided Tour of Desmond Castle is available throughout the high season. The centre also houses a Tourist Information Office, the Dovecot Restaurant, Black Abbey Crafts, Kerry Woollen Mills and Curran's Heraldry.

Education Programmes
Both primary and secondary school students will benefit from a visit to the Historical Exhibition and the Desmond Castle in Adare as it is like a journey back in time.
Themed activity sheets, colouring sheets and quizzes are available all year round. During the summer months from June to September we also offer a handicraft workshop exposing students to the world of the Medieval Knight. Pupils will have the opportunity to create their own Norman Helmet, Sword, and Shield with Coat-of-Arms. Examples of some of the artefacts on view to students in the Exhibition are Chainmail and Longbow.
Conference & Incentive
Situated in the beautiful picturesque village of Adare, Co. Limerick, this venue may be available for receptions. Please check for availability. All special functions include a tour of the Historical Exhibition. The Desmond Room at Adare Heritage Centre is open from 09.00–18.00 all year with on site catering, caters for up to 100 cocktail style.

Visit Desmond Castle
Visit Desmond Castle known as Adare Castle - a 13th Century Norman Castle in Adare, Co. Limerick
This castle was erected with an ancient ring-fort, around the early part of the 13th century. It became a strategic fortress during the following turbulent years. It was the property of the Earls of Kildare for nearly 300 years until the rebellion in 1536, when it was forfeited and granted to the Earls of Desmond who gave the castle its present name. Tours of the 13th century Norman Castle operate from 1st June to 30th September, subject to demand and tickets are available on line or from the main reception desk at the Adare Heritage Centre.
