If you are visiting Kerry then you should visit one of its great highlights - the world-renowned Muckross House. This nineteenth century Victorian mansion is situated amidst the spectacular scenery of Killarney National Park – Ireland’s premier National Park. The house stands close to the shores of Muckross Lake, one of Killarney's three lakes, famed worldwide for their splendour and beauty. As a focal point within Killarney National Park, Muckross House is the ideal base from which to explore this landscape. Visit the elegantly furnished rooms, which portray the lifestyles of the Gentry and, downstairs, experience the working conditions of the servants employed in the house. 

Next to the house, relive the past at Muckross Traditional Farms complete with three working farms from Kerry of the 1930’s. Meet the bean a tÍ’s and watch the farmers as they work in the fields. Children will just love the various farm animals and play area. Visitor can also enjoy a free trip on the Muckross Coach.

Both Muckross House and Traditional Farms are fully accredited Museums.

At their magnificent Garden Restaurant you can enjoy a main course or just a light snack from their self-service counter. All their home-cooked food is reasonably priced and they offer children’s meals.

Visit their Craft Centre and see the Potters, Weavers and Bookbinders at work, free of charge. In their Craft Shop they have a huge selection of reasonably priced gifts for all ages.

While you are there, don’t forget to have a ramble in Muckross gardens and enjoy the freedom of the many nature trails in Killarney National Park.

The emphasis is on value and a family ticket to both the House and Farms is only €32. Parking is Free

Muckross House, Gardens and Mucros Craft Centre are open every day all year round. Muckross Traditional Farms are open from March to October.

Approx. visit duration: Allow 1 hour to take a scheduled guided tour of Muckross House. Muckross Traditional Farms are on a 70 acre site accessible by foot or complimentary coach (or a combination of both). A visit to the Traditional Farms takes a minimum of 90 minutes but visitors are welcome and encouraged to take as long as they please.

Enjoy casual dining in their magnificent 170 seat Garden Restaurant, conservatory and garden terrace with breathtaking views of Torc Mountain and Killarney’s famous National Park. All their home cooked food is reasonably priced with an extensive lunch menu from €10.50, as well as a snack menu. Delicious pastries, scones and desserts all made in their own bakery. Children’s menu, vegetarian and gluten-free options. Opening times are the same as Muckross House.

SHOPPING
You will find an extensive selection of gifts and clothing at Muckross Craft Centre, all at prices that won’t be beaten! Choose from a range of locally made gifts of Mucros Pottery, weaving and bookbinding. Extensive range of giftware, glassware, knitwear and clothing for ladies, gents and kids. Tax Free Shopping. Opening times are the same as Muckross House.

ACCESSIBILITY for Wheelchair Users and Visitors with Reduced Mobility

For the most part Muckross House and Muckross Traditional Farms have universal access, however in some instances access may be limited due to the limitations of historic buildings. A courtesy/transit wheelchair is available for use within the interior environs of Muckross House only. Please ask a member of staff for details. A free complimentary coach service, with universal access, circles Muckross Traditional Farms on a regular basis. There are accessible toilets.
