TULLAMORE DEW HERITAGE CENTRE TO CLOSE FOR REFURBISHMENT WORKS

William Grant & Sons, the owners of Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey announced that the Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre closed from Wednesday, 30th November to prepare for its redevelopment next year.  The new Visitor Centre is expected to open during the 2012 summer tourist season and is ultimately expected to attract up to 40,000 visitors annually – more than double the current number.
“The creation of a new Centre where visitors from around the world can truly engage with the whiskey they love is an important part of our investment in Tullamore Dew.  William Grant & Sons has a long track record in this field and our Visitor Centres in Scotland for Glenfiddich and The Balvenie are among the most popular attractions in the country.  We look forward to creating a top class tourist attraction for Tullamore and the Midlands and will be working with the local community throughout the project”, said Tullamore Dew Global Brand Director, Shane Hoyne.
Planning permission for the new Centre will be lodged in the coming weeks and the redevelopment work is expected to begin early in the New Year.
The major focus over the coming weeks is to carefully catalogue and archive the numerous historical artifacts contained in the Heritage Centre, many of which have been donated by members of the local community over the years.  These artifacts, which represent key dates and events in local and national history, will be meticulously documented and processed for their safe return to the Brand Experience or the original donors.  Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre will be in correspondence with these donors over the coming weeks.
William Grant & Sons acquired Tullamore Dew in 2010 and it is one of its six core global brands.  Along with Hendrick’s Gin and Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum it is marketed throughout the world from the company’s Global Marketing Office in Dublin.

Prestigious US film awards selects Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre.

Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre, is celebrating yet again with another well deserved award received. It was recently announced that Tullamore Dew Heritage Centres audiovisual presentation ‘The Story of Tullamore DEW’ was awarded the 2010 US International Film and Video Festival - Silver Screen award.  The centre together with Tullamore Dew Whiskey undertook to redevelop the audiovisual experience last year and the result was "The Story of Tullamore Dew", a short audio presentation which is the introductory film to all visitors of the Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre and is translated into 5 languages.

The 2010 US International Film and Video Festival is in its 43rd year and is a largely entered competition for various film categories. The entry was one of more than 1000 entries from over 25 countries globally.

Produced by Esras Films Ltd, the film introduces the town and Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey as having a long and interconnected history together.  The progress of the town and its whiskey industry is recounted with reference to the innovative personalities who led those developments. The unique distillation process of Irish whiskey is analyzed and its growth as an international brand noted. The relationship of the whiskey industry with Irish and international events - such as Prohibition in America - is set in context. The production concludes with the story of the resurgence of Irish whiskey through product innovations such as Irish coffee.

The film can be seen on a  visit to the Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre, Bury Quay, Tullamore, which is open 7 days a week, throughout the year.
