An exhibition exploring what life and society in County Donegal was like in 1916.  It looks at national events such as the Easter Rising and international events such as WWI and their impact on County Donegal. It also tells the story of individuals from Donegal who took part in the national/international events of 1916. A special activity book will guide children through the events of 1916. Admission is free.

GPO Witness History is a brand new visitor attraction and exhibition in the historical and iconic GPO building on O’Connell Street, Dublin. This highly interactive and immersive exhibition focuses on the 1916 rising, the aftermath of this rebellion and on how Ireland has developed since. This exhibition allows visitors  experience the events from an eyewitness perspective of active participants on both sides and the bystanders caught in the middle.

Clifftop Experience Walk at the Giant's Causeway

The Giant’s Causeway Clifftop Experience is a fantastic 5-mile hike from the ruin of Dunseverick Castle to Northern Ireland’s first World Heritage Site, the Giant’s Causeway. Walkers will pick their steps along undulating, grass and gravel paths and are rewarded with a bird’s eye view of Ireland’s famed coastline. Participants meet their walking guide at the Visitor Centre for the Rambler bus to the start at Dunseverick Castle. Revolution in Galway, 1913-1923 - at the Galway Museum

Revolution in Galway, 1913-1923 is an exhibition which looks at the involvement of between 500 and 700 Volunteers alongside 50 members of Cumann na mBan in Galway during Easter Week 1916 - a Rising that would change the course of Irish history. Among the objects displayed is a the Piper's Hat worn by Éamonn Ceannt in Rome in 1908 and a wooden chess piece carved by Liam Mellows while prisoner in 1922. Visitors can also enjoy short silent footage from the period, a touch screen interactive with further information on Galway people, places and memories and a reading of the Proclamation by Galwegians.

Conversations at the Casino is an exhibition that features a selection of portraits from the State Art Collection which is managed by the Office of Public Works (OPW). The exhibition on temporary display in the Casino features 47 portraits by 32 artists. There are historic and contemporary paintings, original prints, sculpture and drawings on display. The portraits are of figures from different spheres of Irish life – the arts, sport and politics. The included artworks span five centuries – from a School of Rembrandt portrait dating to the 1630s to portraits created in 2016.

The Casino at Marino, Ireland’s miniature architectural masterpiece, has just added another secret to its already full repertoire of secret plans and clever tricks. Over the years there has been much speculation about the uses and extent of the various vaults and tunnels that lead off from the basement of this remarkable building. Unconfirmed stories have given rise to local legends of tunnels running down to the sea used for smuggling or being used as a useful secret underground escape route by the builder of the Casino, Lord Charlemont. Max Reger: The Choral Fantasias @ St Patrick's Cathedral

Dublin-based organist David Leigh is presenting a series of recitals to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Max Reger on the 1902 Willis organ of St Patrick’s Cathedral.
Each recital will feature one of the seven great Reger Chorale Fantasias alongside pieces that either influenced it or were influenced by it, most notably music by J S Bach.  David Leigh, Assistant Organist of St Patrick’s Cathedral, is a renowned interpreter of Reger’s music and this is a rare opportunity to hear all seven fantasias in one series. Sundays at 20:00hrs on September 11, 18 and 25 and October 2, 9, 16 and 23. Admission is free, seats must be reserved online.

Hook Head Lighthouse, the oldest intact operational lighthouse in the world, are offering two evenings of thrilling Halloween tours on Saturday and Sunday, October 29th and 30th. 

Hook Lighthouse is worth visiting at any time, but these special Halloween tours are special. However, they are only for those brave adults and braver kids who are not afraid of the ghoulish and the terrifying. Venture into darkness as you ascend the 115 steps of Lighthouse tower for a night-time view of the graveyard of 1,000 ships, explore the original keepers’ quarters and learn of the true terrifying tales behind the Lighthouse and its grounds including the paranormal experiences of previous guests and staff. Atmospheric lighting, hanging spiders and creepy nooks and crannies along the way create an experience which is not for the feint-hearted.
