An exhibition exploring what life and society in County Donegal was like in 1916.  It looks at national events such as the Easter Rising and international events such as WWI and their impact on County Donegal. It also tells the story of individuals from Donegal who took part in the national/international events of 1916. A special activity book will guide children through the events of 1916. Admission is free.

Revolution in Galway, 1913-1923 is an exhibition which looks at the involvement of between 500 and 700 Volunteers alongside 50 members of Cumann na mBan in Galway during Easter Week 1916 - a Rising that would change the course of Irish history. Among the objects displayed is a the Piper's Hat worn by Éamonn Ceannt in Rome in 1908 and a wooden chess piece carved by Liam Mellows while prisoner in 1922. Visitors can also enjoy short silent footage from the period, a touch screen interactive with further information on Galway people, places and memories and a reading of the Proclamation by Galwegians.

Winter Wonderland features the new format of a guided experience this holiday season full of festive family fun. Families will enjoy Storytime with Mrs Claus, Gingerbread Man decorating, Face Painting,  a personalised chat with Santa Claus himself followed by Yule Tide Log Making, free drinks for everyone and a ride around the grounds on the Westport Train.  
 
The Christmas Carnival will feature the largest mobile ferris wheel in Europe – at 35 meters tall, it will afford awesome views of the heritage town, Clew Bay, Croagh Patrick and the estate. The Carnival also includes a range of more “grounded” rides including chair-o-planes, bumper cars, formula one, hot air balloon and airplane rides as well as games and refreshments too!

Jacob's Biscuit Factory & Dublin: An Assorted History at Dublin City Hall

Drawing on the vast Jacob Biscuit Factory Archive held at Dublin City Library and Archive, this major exhibition explores all aspects of the factory’s twentieth century history and its impact on lives of Dubliners. Colourful panels demonstrate the history of the factory, the workers, the products it produced and its role in Irish life. Visitors can find out the fascinating history of the Jacobs cream-cracker, who was the marketing genius to develop the concept of Jim Figgerty, and how did major national and international events from World Wars to 1916 Rising impact the business, customers, and staff. The exhibition will run until the end of March 2018. Image courtesy Dublin City Library and Archive.
