June to August Activities
Here are just the activities we were involved in during June - August 2016
As per previous years, we are displaying our Heritage Island Map and Discount Pass DL-Size brochure in hotels, tourist offices, airports, car hire companies and attractions, throughout Ireland.
Supplies of the Map and Discount Pass are also available to order online through www.enjoyireland.info. It is one of the most popular brochures ordered on this website, particularly with Tourist Information Offices.
Every day we are busy processing orders for the Heritage Island Touring Guide and Discount Pass, received from visitors based overseas. For example, in the past few days, we have posted individual touring guides to intending visitors to Ireland living in Oregon, Kansas, Wisconsin, Indiana, California, Montana, Illinois and Florida. One of the values of the guide is visitors can pre-plan their visits in advance of travelling.
Dates: Wednesday, July 20 – Sunday, July 24, 2016
The Heritage Island stand at the Dublin Horse Show was, once again, a great success. The event was held earlier than usual this year so that the horses and riders could also compete in the Olympics. It’s an unusual show in that the flows to the Main Hall, where we were located, was intermittent. It meant that visitors arrived in bursts between the main showjumping events, but our stand was well positioned to have them call to us.
Thanks to all our members who joined us at the event, including The Giant’s Causeway, Epic Ireland, GPO Witness History, Russborough House and Parklands, Titanic Belfast, Shannon Ferry, Armagh, Butlers Chocolate Experience, Kilbeggan Distillery and The National Wax Museum Plus. The Butlers chocolates and free competitions were great for attracting visitors to the stand, and we have now added all names to our e-zine database to keep them informed of Heritage Island members’ news and events.
During the summer we emailed all tour operators on our mailing list to remind them of the support services that Heritage Island offers. The opening rate was high on this e-zine, and we have had a number of tour operators sign-up to the new ‘Heritage Island Tour Operator Priority Partnership Programme’.
For 2017, we will be developing this ‘Priority Partnership’ programme further and will be working to bring more key tour operators on-board. The objective of the new programme is to increase the level of collaboration with Operators by offering them a wider range of supports from ‘First to Know’ news bulletins through to photo images, Travel Organiser Manuals, Fam Trip passes, links from our high-speed website and more.
Based on feedback from members, we committed to undertaking some research into how the season was shaping for members. Our first project was to look at the period ‘January to May’ and, to help ensure a good response rate and the timely feedback of results, we opted for a simple ‘snap view’ format using specialist research software called ‘Get Feedback’. On average it took less than 3 minutes to complete the survey, with the fastest respondent completing the survey in less than 2 minutes.
The survey confirmed that the season to May 2016 was a good one for most members, and you can see the results here. Note: the future research surveys will only be accessible to members.
We are going to continue with the state-of-season research, with the next survey scheduled for early September, looking the months of June, July and August.
We will share the summer season survey with RESPONDENTS and would ask that everyone completes it, noting that it takes less than 3 minutes. The higher the response levels, the more valuable the information.
The results will be shared, in a general way, with all survey respondents.
We continue to build content on our new Heritage Island website – adding YOUR information and news as we get it, along with consumer and travel trade news and tour suggestions. We depend on you feeding in the information which also finds its way into our regular trade, media and consumer newsletters.
We are still working on ideas and on shaping plans for 2017 – which is a special year for us. We will be 25 years in existence, promoting Ireland's Premier Attractions! We are using the opportunity to challenge ourselves to deliver some new initiatives to win more business for our members. We’ll share them soon. If you have any great ideas you think we should consider, please let us know.
