An award-winning museum and art gallery, celebrating the work of the sculptor, Frederick Edward McWilliam, who was born in Banbridge in 1909.

An award-winning museum and art gallery, the F.E. McWilliam Gallery & Studio celebrates the work of the sculptor, Frederick Edward McWilliam, who was born in Banbridge on 30 April 1909. A contemporary and friend of Henry Moore, McWilliam made his name in London and established a reputation as one of the most important sculptors of his generation.

After McWilliam’s death in 1992, his estate gifted the contents of his studio, originally situated in Holland Park, London, and a number of sculptures to Banbridge District Council. In 2008 a purpose-built gallery, sculpture garden and replica of McWilliam’s studio was opened on a site conveniently situated on the outskirts of Banbridge and just off the main Belfast to Dublin road.

Featuring a display of McWilliam’s work, temporary exhibitions of Irish and international art, a craft shop, Quails Café and Banbridge Visitor Information Point, the F.E. McWilliam Gallery & Studio has established a reputation for excellent visitor experiences and attracts a wide range of local, national and international visitors. Now run by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, the F.E. McWilliam Gallery is the gateway to the stunning countryside and cultural attractions of the area.
