Marble Arch Caves are one of Europe's finest showcaves - a truly spectacular subterranean world, but only one of many attractions in the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark.

Visitors to the Marble Arch Caves will experience a fascinating natural underworld of rivers, waterfalls, winding passages and lofty chambers, while stunningly beautiful cave formations glisten all around. Subtle lighting reveals hanging stalactites, translucent mineral veils and cascades of calcite. One of the largest of these flowstones, the Porridge Pot, took 50,000 years to grow from slow drips from above.

An Audio Visual presentation on the Marble Arch Caves and the wider UNESCO Global Geopark of Fermanagh and Cavan is available to watch free of charge at the Marble Arch Caves Visitor Centre. There is a beautiful nature walk through the Cladagh Glen nature reserve which starts here.  For the more experienced hillwalker access to Cuilcagh Mountain Park is located approximately 500m from the gate of the visitor centre.

Marble Arch Caves
The Marble Arch Caves are a key site in the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark takes in the rugged mountainous uplands and gentle rolling lowlands of Counties Fermanagh and Cavan.  The Geopark showcases some of the finest natural landscapes on the island of Ireland and offers a window into the area’s geological and social past.

The Geopark holds evidence of mountain building and destruction; searing hot deserts and warm tropical oceans; of icy wastelands and water-worn caverns.  There are also prehistoric tombs, Iron Age forts, early Christian monasteries, and Plantation Castles are scattered across the landscape.

All of these monuments remind us of the close relationship that people have had with the landscape since their arrival in Ireland thousands of years ago.  The combination of the rich abundance of heritage and the very best of facilities ensure that the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark is the perfect location for an activity holiday or just to relax and enjoy beautiful scenery.
