Here are just the activities we were involved in during March 2016

Heritage Island attended Explore GB, Liverpool - VisitBritain’s flagship event

Dates: March 3-4, 2016

Heritage Island attended ExploreGB in Liverpool (VisitBritain’s flagship event) which provided us with an opportunity to meet and do business with 50 international travel buyers from numerous countries and continents.

All Travel Organisers Manuals brought were distributed – with most operators preferring to take the printed edition with them, rather than be sent a soft copy – interesting in this age of technology! It's the Power of Print again!

Explore GB

It was a well-run event, with Tourism Ireland in attendance also, and it facilitated further consolidation of relationships with many operators - FIT and Groups. It also provided an opportunity to introduce our member attractions and heritage towns to others who are new to programming Ireland, and who therefore found the Heritage Island manual invaluable.

AXA National Classic Car Show, RDS Dublin

Date: March 5-6, 2016

Ireland’s Blue Book attended the AXA National Classic Car
Show, in the RDS Dublin, where they distributed a good quantity of the Heritage Island touring guides over the two days, along with their own publication. The event was aimed at car enthusiasts, who are on the look out for ideas as to what to see and do during their travels around the island.

Irish Tour Operators Association Workshops

Date: March 10, 2016 (Fitzpatrick’s Castle Hotel, Dublin)

A key event in the promotional calendar, The Incoming Tour Operators Association (ITOA) workshop is a convenient forum for presenting what is new in the world of visitor attractions in Ireland to this group of influencers. For these companies designing visitor itineraries, Heritage Island presents a one-stop-shop for information on Ireland’s premier visitor destinations around the island, including updates on attraction/ heritage town developments, forthcoming events, and reliable contact details for all attractions. Feedback on our new website was tremendous!

ITB Berlin, Germany

Dates: March 9-13, 2016

One of the World’s leading travel trade shows. Tourism Ireland hosted two stands at this event this year, from which Heritage Island promotional guides/discount passes were distributed. The feedback is that it was next to impossible to keep the guides on the stand as they were so popular. Germany of course is a crucially important market for most of our members.

The British Tourism & Travel Show – the very best of Britain & Ireland, NEC, Birmingham
L to R: Clarissa Delap, Saint Patrick’s
Cathedral; Fiona Kilderry, Shannon
Heritage; Ann Kilcoyne, Glasnevin
Cemetery Museum and Arthur Goan,
Belleek Pottery

Dates: March 16-17, 2016

Formerly the Best of Britain and Ireland Show (BOBI), Heritage Island co-ordinated a display stand at this event as part of the ‘Ireland’ stand. Four of our leading visitor attractions attended promoting themselves and all our members, with a quantity of each of our publications being distributed.

A big thank you to those representatives from Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Dublin, Belleek Pottery, Glasnevin Cemetery Museum and Shannon Heritage - who gave up their own personal St. Patrick’s Day celebrations to promote Heritage Island.

Goodwood Members Meeting 2016, Chichester, West Sussex

Dates: March 19-20, 2016

Ireland’s Blue Book attended this consumer promotion which has traditionally been a good platform for them, where they distributed the Heritage Island touring guides/discount passes on our behalf via their stand. Their accommodation brochure and our attractions guide complement each other nicely at events such as this.

What's New - print Newsletter

We produced our ‘What’s New’ publication

As per previous years, we have compiled and printed a supply of the ‘What’s New’  full-colour newsletters which we will be distributing at all the trade events we will be attending over the coming months. The publication is also available in soft version via the travel trade section of our website in both pdf and e-brochure formats. If you missed out, don’t be concerned – the publication advises the travel trade that the most up-to-date information is on our website – so please ALWAYS send in your news.

Consumer and Trade Communications

During March we continued to communicate with consumers and travel trade professionals worldwide through our print programmes, eNewletters and online channels.

We continue to add content and features to our New Heritage Island Website – and always welcome content!

We continue to build content on our new Heritage Island website – adding YOUR information and news as we get it, along with consumer and travel trade news and tour suggestions.

In the new “Travel Trade” section we provide information and resources of interest to the travel trade. They can, for example, download the Travel Organisers Manual 2016/2017 from there. See www.HeritageIsland.com/travel-trade

We are adding your Top Events to our Website

We've been adding your 2016 events to the Events Calendar as we as we get them. Past events e.g. Saint Patrick’s Day and Easter automatically unpublish, so we are keen to get in more events, particularly your summer news / events programme.

Heritage Island Brochure Distribution

We continued to strategically distribute our brochures to consumers and trade, as we move towards the high season.
