Here are just the activities we were involved in during April 2016

Heritage Island attended Meitheal, RDS Dublin

Dates: April 11-12 , 2016

This annual B2B Matchmaking Partnering event, organised by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland, brought together travel organisations from Ireland’s major markets around the globe, with an interest in collaborating with Irish Tourism interests, for mutual commercial benefit. The event facilitated one-to-one 10-minute pre-scheduled meetings.

Heritage Island attended the event on the Monday and the strong level of interest meant we had a full schedule of meetings, including during the coffee breaks! There was so little time for anything but the meetings, that even though some of our own members also had tables at the event, we did not get the opportunity to even meet!

The format of the Irish trade seated and the overseas operators moving around the room worked very well for the second year in a row, and all meetings were well matched and pre-qualified – so we only met people interested in meeting us, and vice versa. It was good for meeting operators with whom we are already working with, and also meeting new travel trade contacts to follow up with.


Northern Ireland Tourism Meet the Buyer Workshop 2016

Dates: April 12-13 , 2016

Heritage Island attended this annual Meet the Buyer Workshop, which took place this year in Belfast. There was a networking evening and dinner on the Tuesday night in Belfast City Hall, which was a relaxed atmosphere for meeting other Northern Irish trade, our colleagues in Tourism Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland, and also overseas operators. Some of the operators were also at Meitheal, whilst others were only at the Belfast event.

The workshop took place in St George's Market the following day, with a series of 15 minute meetings. The 15 minutes meant we really had a chance to discuss the operators needs, and we also met some operators a second time as they were also at Meitheal – so were able to explore opportunities in even greater depth with them.

Overall, it was once again a good event to have a presence at.


Consumer and Trade Communications, including Newsletter to over 3,000 school contacts in Ireland

During April we continued to communicate with consumers and travel trade professionals worldwide through our print programmes, eNewletters and online channels. This included an eNewletter to over 3,000 school contacts throughout Ireland. We reminded the schools of the importance of educational tours. They help to open minds, give great insights into aspects of Ireland - past and present, and they are a welcome break from the routine. They can also be a fun bonding experience for everyone involved. We highlighted the opportunity our 87 member attractions and heritage towns present.

Keelings Fruit Summer Promotion

We teamed up with Keelings Fruit, Ireland's leading fruit growers, to work with them in a wonderful promotional campaign across Ireland. For our participating members this offers an increase in exposure and awareness, and will entice individuals, couples and families to visit attractions. The offer for 2016 is 2 for 1 Entry at all participating Heritage Island attractions.

The activity will be promoted on over 1.2 million Keelings Berry packs (strawberries, blueberries and raspberries) with a flash label, and distributed through the main supermarket channels. In pack, an insert will outline details of the offer and provide a 2 for 1 voucher.

The offer will be communicated on packs from mid-June to mid-August with the offer redeemable from mid-June – October 31st, encouraging more visits in the shoulder season also.

Keelings will also promote the activity across all their digital assets including Facebook (54,000 fans), Twitter (2,000) & E-zine (25,000+), in addition to Heritage Island’s own online and social media. The promotion will also feature again on National Radio and advertising in National newspapers.


Ticketing System for Events at Attractions

We have been working with our partner company, Top Attractions Ireland, on developing a ticketing system for events at member attractions. We will update you in June. Even if you have your own ticketing system for general admissions, it may be of interest. It takes away all the work and manages the bookings. If you could be interested, let us know.


Links with Influential Websites

We are going to add a links page to our website, very selectively linking, on a reciprocal basis, to influential 3rd party websites who complement us and can help drive traffic to our website and business to our members. We continued to add content and features to our New Heritage Island Website – and always welcome content!

We continue to build content on our new Heritage Island website – adding YOUR information and news as we get it, along with consumer and travel trade news and tour suggestions. We depend on you feeding in the information which also finds its way into our regular trade, media and consumer newsletters.


We've been adding your Summer Events to our Website

We've been adding summer events to the Events Calendar as we get them. We are keen to get in more events, particularly your summer news / events programme.


Heritage Island Brochure Distribution

We continued to strategically distribute our brochures to consumers and trade, as we move towards the high season.

Plans for 2017 – Celebrating 25 Years of Promoting Ireland’s Premier Heritage Attractions

We have been working on shaping plans for 2017 – which is a special year for us. We’ll be 25 years in existence, promoting Ireland's Premier Attractions! We are using the opportunity to challenge ourselves to deliver some new initiatives to win more business for our members. We’ll share them soon. If you have any great ideas you think we should consider, please let us know.
